Who owes whom.
Fewer transfers.

Type who paid what. Get a short, simplified list of transfers that makes everyone even, each one explained in a sentence. Runs in your browser; share the link. This is the same math the Fairly app uses to settle a trip.

About the math

How does the calculator decide who pays whom?

It computes each person's net (what they paid minus their share), then matches the largest creditor with the largest debtor until everyone is at zero. That is the same greedy cash-flow method the Fairly app uses, and it never needs more than one transfer fewer than the number of people.

Is this the minimum possible number of transfers?

Not always. Matching the largest balances first cuts a messy web of debts down to a short, simplified list, and every transfer is exact. In some groups a cleverer pairing could save one more transfer: finding the true minimum in every case is a much harder problem, so the calculator does not promise it.

Can I split unequally?

Yes. The Shares column is a weight: 2 means that person pays two shares, 0.5 means half a share, 0 means they paid but owe nothing (for example a guest who was treated). Shares are rounded so they sum exactly to the total. At least one person needs a share above 0.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. The calculator runs in your browser; the only place the numbers live is the link in your address bar, which you can share or not. Fairly the app uses the same math, and adds receipts, voice and a link your friends can open to see what they owe.

Never type who-paid-what again.

Fairly does this from a receipt or a sentence, for the whole trip, and drafts the reminders. Free for personal groups.
